A company in Hamburg, Germany approached us about our bespoke software. They had 3 PC's and were using a MS-DOS based program for their data and accounting. They had 10,000 unique products and needed to add about 200 every week, each with its own unique picture. We sent one of our database engineers to Hamburg, and we recommended and carried out the following:
- A server with Oracle Application Server and Database installed in London
- The database and accounting software converted to Oracle
- All their existing data imported into Oracle
- VPN access to the server in London
- An eCommerce site created with Live database
- Remote access to the PC's for troubleshooting
- No major server downtime in over two years
This project was so successful that we currently have contracts with over 90% of the companies in the same industry as this customer in Hamburg, each using their own portal to access their own section of the database. |
